Soils

Our soil selections are listed below. These soils consist mainly of top soil and have some organic contents depending on the blend. They are also not considered soil amendments. They are good to add in with new plantings, but Platt Hill Nursery highly recommends using a true soil amendment for new plantings. All .75 cubic foot soil bags are approximately 40 lbs.

Top Soil

A dark black top soil that is great for building up beds and adding to new plantings to replace clay.

 

Michigan Peat Moss

$2.49/ .75 cubic ft. bag

Top soil mixed with peat moss. Has a slightly lighter texture than straight top soil, but is not the same as the pure soil amendment sphagnum peat moss.

 

Compost & Manure

$2.49/ .75 cubic ft. bag

Top soil with compost and manure blended into the mixture. This will add organic material into your garden area.

 

Potting Soil

$2.99/ 40 lb. bag

Potting soil that helps to retain moisture for annuals and other potted plants. This soil is not for in ground use with trees & shrubs. Potting soil is much heavier than potting mixture. Platt Hill Nursery recommends using a lighter potting mixture for large pots and hanging baskets.
