BLOOMINGDALE location employment

Platt Hill Nursery – Assistant Store Manager

Reports to: Store Manager

Location: Bloomingdale, IL

Full-Time with Benefits

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Assistant Store Manager with proven experience in leading a successful team, buying, inventory management, managing for profit (without sacrificing quality) while continually striving to improve sales, efficiency, cost reduction and minimizing spoilage. A strong focus on the GMROI for item categories is essential. As is loving to come to work everyday, interacting with a fantastic team and customer base and an eye toward what it takes to get customers to buy! You will have the autonomy to be creative within a supportive and encouraging environment.

Some Important Requirements for this Role:

· Strong desire to be a dynamic leader, balanced with humility to accept instruction and feedback.

· Strong foundation in buying and inventory management; ability to know what needs to be done and to self-direct to complete those tasks.

· Enthusiastic about learning company culture and business objectives.

· Customer-centric! Learn our customer base, treat each customer with empathy and respect, then design buying, inventory management and merchandising plans based on this knowledge.

· Understand and implement the science of buying and deliberate co-location.

· Develop effective sight layout using graphic depiction of the store and units being sold out of each area to increase product visibility and sales.

· Experience in staffing and leading a team to build loyalty around company culture, keep highly engaged, properly trained and supervised.

· Understand and show successful examples of Open to Buy, set up and follow through of minimum and maximum buying, balanced inventory management; maximization of Gross Margin Return on Investment (GIMROI).

· Excited about opportunity to work with autonomy in ambiguous, creative environment that requires artful instinct and intuition in addition to solid experience.

· Must be able to look at a space with eye toward what is in the realm of possibility, articulate this vision, design, plan and implement from start to finish.

· Able and excited to work in a fast-paced environment with strong customer and team member focused.

 

GREENHOUSE SALES AND SUPPORT – Level 1

Type of Position: Seasonal, Part-time; non-exempt, hourly pay

Reports to: Greenhouse Manager                                     

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Receive, unload, unpack, price, and display Greenhouse merchandise
  • Greet customers in a courteous, friendly manner (in person and on the phone)
  • Inform customers of weekly specials and sales
  • Sell and aid customers in selection of all Greenhouse products
  • Direct customers to the proper sales are for products desired
  • Provide general cultural care and basic garden design advice to customers
  • Encourage tie-in sales (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
  • Maintain and clean sales areas with Greenhouse products and materials
  • Other duties requested by manager

REQUIREMENTS include:

  • Horticulture knowledge and/or experience a plus.
  • Must have ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., or more, multiple times throughout the day.
  • Must have ability to work standing, walking and moving for up to 8-hrs. per day.
  • Must have ability to work outside in all types of weather and temperatures.
  • Carry, lift, load, push, pull, crawl, crouch, reach, grab, work with hands, twist, walk, and other similarly physical and specialized actions.
  • Availability either Saturday or Sunday.
  • Must be able to work for any employer in the United States without any type of sponsorship.

DELIVERY DRIVER

Type of Position: Full-Time-Part-Time hourly seasonal
Reports to: Landscape Manager

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have proven, safe driving record and practices.
  • Must know how to use a GPS.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather.
  • Flexible work hours – including weekends.
  • Must be courteous with and enjoy interacting with a diverse group of customers.
  • Looking to be on a great, dynamic team!

    CARPENTERSVILLE Location Employment

    LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND SALES ASSOCIATE – Full -time (Seasonal schedule)

     Reports to: Landscape Manager                                    

     WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

    An experienced, detail oriented, creative, customer focused Landscape Design and Sales professional who is all-in when it comes to team work and bringing beautiful plants and design elements into the lives of others.

    Someone who thrives with helping customers find and achieve the right landscape solution for their unique needs, who is passionate about every aspect of the design project and sale – from start to finish, and who is excited by the idea of joining a growing, dynamic, garden center and Landscaping team.

    If you are highly self-motivated, can’t rest until you’ve done your best and looking to join a rock-star landscape design and sales team, consider joining the Platt Hill Nursery Landscaping Team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:

    • Support clients from start to finish: initial contact through design phase, to construction management and warranty work.
    • Create elaborate landscape design solutions via hand drawn designs and CAD (Dynascape Preferred).
    • Create construction proposals based on job estimating systems
    • Source materials to execute construction phase of project

    REQUIREMENTS include:

    • At least 2 – 3 yrs. experience in a Landscape Design and Sales role.
    • Certification/Education as Landscape Designer and Landscape Design program and curriculum.
    • At least 1 yr. experience with CAD for purpose of Landscape Design – Dynascape preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills combined with an intuitive emotional intelligence.
    • Love of working with clients – no matter the project size.
    • Strong horticultural knowledge of trees, shrubs, and perennials
    • Knowledge of natural stone & interlocking concrete pavers
    • Knowledge of job estimating & proposal writing
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (required)

    EXPERIENCED LANDSCAPE/HARDSCAPE LABOR AND CONSTRUCTION – (Seasonal) – Carpentersville

    Type of Position:  Seasonal; non-exempt, hourly pay

    Reports to: Landscape Manager      

     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:

    This is a heavily labor-intensive role that requires the following:

    • Experience in hardscape landscaping – stone, brick, rock and tile work, deck work, sod installation and removal and other hardscaping experience.
    • Experience using tile, stone, rocks, gravel, sod removal and other heavy hardscape materials and hardscape tools.
    • Use of various landscape and hardscape machines and tools. Example – sod cutter.
    • Commitment to working as and contributing to a dynamic team.
    • Commitment to achieving high productivity goals.

    REQUIREMENTS include:

    • Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., or more, multiple times throughout the day.
    • Must have ability to work standing, walking and moving for up to 8+-hrs. per day.
    • Must have ability to work outside in all types of weather and temperatures.
    • Carry, lift, load, push, pull, crawl, crouch, reach, grab, work with hands, twist, walk, and other similarly physical and specialized actions.
    • Available daily (Monday – Saturday) from 6:30 am until 7:00 pm April 1st through October/early November depending upon season and sales.
    • Must be able to work for any employer in the United States without any type of sponsorship.
