Platt Hill Nursery carries some of the best shade, ornamental, fruit, and evergreen trees for the Chicago area. Shade tree favorites such as maples, birches, and oaks are available throughout the season. Flowering ornamental trees such as crabapples, magnolias, and serviceberry add beauty to the landscape with their spring or blooms. Pines and spruces offer evergreen privacy from neighbors as well as wind protection. Our fruit trees include apple, pear, peach, plum, cherry, nectarine and apricot. The shrub selection includes many great varieties such as hydrangeas, spireas, and dogwood. Many of our trees and shrubs are locally grown right on site at our nursery. Our Products
Bloodgood Japanese Maple
Attractive burgundy foliage which emerges deep purple in spring, then changing to scarlet red in the fall. Rough gray bark and red branches add an interesting dimension to the landscape. Relatively a low maintenance tree.
Eastern Redbud
Spectacular spring bloomer, with very showy pink to purple flowers in early spring. Deer don’t particularly care for this tree. Relatively a low maintenance tree.
Emerald Green Arborvitae
Tall, narrow, pyramidal hedge evergreen typically planted in rows for screening. Dense foliage held in vertical sprays remains bright green year round. Hardy and adaptable.
Stewartstonian Azalea
Dazzling smallish yet abundant hot red flowers in spring. Lightly-scented tomato-orange trumpet-shaped flowers. Must have well-drained, highly acidic and organic soil, use plenty of peat moss when planting.
